MOMS UNITE is a grassroots education advocacy group based in Los Angeles. It was formed in 2008 by five mothers at Castle Heights Elementary in West Los Angeles who were concerned about the State budget cuts to education.

Their first act was to put on a Mother’s Day rally to call attention to the fact that the California State Legislature has put education at the bottom the priority list. With signs that read “All We Want for Mother’s Day is a Good Education for our Children,” over 400 participants from more than 22 schools in joined the effort.

Actress Patricia Arquette and writer/activist Sandra Tsing Loh lent their support by standing shoulder to shoulder with other concerned parents in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles.

Under Executive Directors Ginger Bower and Victoria Rierdan Hurley, the group has partnered with the Los Angeles Unified School District to create a reliable parent-centric communications network for the dissemination of timely, accurate information that helps to provide a context for changes in the District.

MOMS UNITE welcomes members from schools all over Los Angeles and seeks to bring parents together to help create positive change in the public school system.
